LANTITE Numeracy May Testing Window – Most Common Topics Students Are Seeing in the Test

If you are sitting the LANTITE Numeracy test during the May testing window, it is important to understand that the real exam may look different from the ACER practice questions — but the topics tested still come from the same official framework.

Many students panic after hearing comments online like “the test was nothing like the practice tests.” In reality, the questions are often simply more wordy, more data-heavy, or designed to test whether you can interpret information carefully under time pressure.

🚨 Important Reminder

Sharing exact content from the LANTITE test is NOT allowed!

Students are not permitted to share exact exam questions, screenshots, or detailed copies of the test content. However, students can discuss the general types of topics and skills they found challenging.

Most Common LANTITE Numeracy Topics in the May Testing Window

Based on student feedback and the official ACER framework, many students are reporting large amounts of:

  • Graph interpretation

  • Bar charts

  • Pie charts

  • Dot plots

  • Venn diagrams

  • Reading data from tables

  • Percentages

  • Non-calculator fractions

  • Geometry and bearings

  • Area, perimeter, and volume questions

  • Wordy real-life problem solving

The test is heavily focused on interpreting information carefully rather than simply doing difficult calculations.

Graphs and Data Interpretation

Many students struggle because they rush through graphs without carefully checking:

  • Labels

  • Scale intervals

  • Units

  • Percentages

  • Titles

  • Missing data

In the real LANTITE Numeracy test, graphs are often combined with tables or written information. You may need to:

  • Compare categories

  • Find differences

  • Calculate percentages

  • Identify trends

  • Read values accurately

  • Decide whether statements are true or false

Common graph types include:

  • Bar charts

  • Pie charts

  • Dot plots

  • Line graphs

  • Venn diagrams

  • Frequency tables

Percentages You MUST Know for LANTITE Non-Calculator

For the non-calculator section, knowing key fraction-percentage conversions is extremely important.

You should instantly recognise:

  • 1/2 = 50%

  • 1/4 = 25%

  • 1/5 = 20%

  • 1/10 = 10%

  • 1/3 = 33.3333%

  • 2/3 = 66.6666%

  • 3/4 = 75%

  • 1/8 = 12.5%

Students who memorise these relationships save huge amounts of time during the exam.

You also need to know how to:

  • Find a percentage of an amount

  • Express one amount as a percentage of another

  • Calculate percentage increase and decrease

  • Estimate percentages quickly without a calculator

Bearings and Turning Clockwise Questions

Geometry questions in the May testing window often involve direction and turning.

Students should know:

  • A quarter turn = 90 degrees

  • A half turn = 180 degrees

  • A full turn = 360 degrees

You also need to understand:

  • Clockwise vs anticlockwise turns

  • Compass directions

  • Bearings

  • Interpreting maps and routes

Many LANTITE questions are intentionally wordy, so recognising key directional language is essential.

Area, Perimeter, or Volume? Know the Keywords

A major issue for students is identifying what the question is actually asking.

You need to recognise keywords connected to:

Perimeter

Look for words like:

  • Fence

  • Border

  • Around

  • Edge

  • Distance around

Area

Look for:

  • Cover

  • Surface

  • Flooring

  • Grass

  • Paint

  • Space inside

Volume

Look for:

  • Capacity

  • Fill

  • Cubic units

  • Water

  • Containers

  • 3D space

Many students lose marks because they use the wrong formula — even when their calculations are correct.

The Real Challenge of LANTITE Numeracy

The LANTITE Numeracy test is not designed to test advanced mathematics.

Instead, it tests whether you can:

  • Read carefully

  • Interpret information

  • Use logical reasoning

  • Apply maths in real-life situations

  • Work under time pressure

  • Avoid common traps

That is why simply repeating the ACER practice test over and over again is usually not enough preparation.
